Christian cliches – of course He can because He is God
When Non-Christians (or even Christians) ask Christians if God can do/know/be/have something, often the response is “of course He does because He is God.” Or the phrase might be in the form of a negative “if God did not do/know/be/have … Continue reading

taking things by faith
In modern Christian discussions, when one hears that Christians must “take things by faith” that is usually code for “taking what the pastor says by faith” and ignoring the Bible. Man’s teaching is being elevated higher than the Bible. This … Continue reading

Christian cliches – God is above logic
There is a reason man thinks using logic; it is because logic is necessarily true. It is not true because God says it is. To believe the laws of logic are arbitrary is question the very existence of God. Continue reading

Christian cliches – all sins are equal
So is Jesus saying that all sins are equal or that all sins lead to hell? These are different concepts. As we have shown earlier, some will be judged with many stripes and some with few. The problem with this, however, is that the Bible never describes hobbies or obsessions as a god. There may be other sins involved with these things, but it is definitely not the sin of idolatry. Continue reading

Christian cliches – is it a sin to drink wine
Alcohol is not a sin, but being a drunkard is a sin. All the quotes in the Bible concerning alcohol and sinning deals with drunkenness, not the rare drunken night or drinking to drown sorrow, but the wanton gluttony that characterized drunkards. Continue reading

Christian cliches – do not judge
…the verses usually cited by Christians on not judging are actually a manual on how to judge. Jesus did not hate judgers. Jesus hated hypocrites. If you remove the sin from your own life, then you can judge others. Contrary to modern Christian psychobabble, Paul tells us that to be a good Christian one should judge all things Continue reading
