marriage is not defined by the state

Some Christians believe that two individuals are not married unless the State provides them a marriage license. But, as I learned today, some States have ridiculous requirements to issue a marriage license. Some States literally require a blood test be performed for STDs before they will issue a marriage license. To some Christians, being “subject to the government” means believing people must have their blood tested before they can be considered married.
